The Los Angeles Valiant has released their flex player Lee “envy” Kang-jae and is moving Christopher “Grimreality” Schaefer to an assistant coach position, as the team announced on their official Twitter late this afternoon.
Envy had been a late addition to the original Immortals roster from which Valiant was created, having been announced the latest on November 2. He is the first of that original roster to leave the Valiant. Grimreality had also been part of said core squad but had yet to play an official match for the Valiant in the regular season and had only seen playtime in the preseason matches in December last year.
The announcement was made mere hours after the news of Custa being exchanged for uNKOE in a Dallas – Valiant trade and only a day before the signing window for the first inaugural season of the Overwatch League closes. Currently, only 10 of the allowed 12 player slots are filled for the Angelenos.
Christopher "@Grimreality" Schaefer has decided to transition from active player to an assistant coaching role within the organization. 💚💛

The Valiant had barely missed the Stage 1 playoffs, going 7-3. In Stage 2, however, the team dropped to 8th place that stage, with an overall record of four wins and six losses.
